Addressing over-engagement is crucial for sustainable team performance. In my work with UK organisations, I've found effective strategies to reduce anxiety while maintaining productivity.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.

Practical approaches that deliver results:

• Implement structured skill-sharing sessions where team members teach their expertise to others

• Create clear policies around response times and after-hours communication

• Establish team metrics rather than individual performance measures

• Develop support systems where responsibilities are shared across the team

I recently conducted a workshop with a Paris technology company that implemented these principles. The result is still being measured, but the feedback I received was encouraging. The mindset shifted in the right direction and inspired to team to re-assess their dynamics.

When team members rely on each other effectively, the pressure on over-engaged individuals naturally decreases.
